New Marine Electrical Department

Royston has invested in a new Marine Electrical Department as it expands ship maintenance operations and boosts customer services.

Headed by electrical service manager, Ben Jones, the move will see a wide-range of dedicated electrical, electronic, digital repair and overhaul services available to global marine fleet owners and operators. Specialist engineers working in the new department will cover breakdowns and provide fault-finding capabilities as well as undertaking routine and scheduled repairs and service work regardless of a vessel’s global location.

Including marine electrical repairs and maintenance of motors, generators and associated ancillary equipment and systems, the department’s services will also include function testing of alarms, engine automation, control and monitoring equipment alongside repair and fault diagnosis of marine equipment and the installation and commissioning of machinery and digital technologies.

Service and repair of navigation and communications equipment will also be available as part of a broad-based package of support that also sees the provision of thermographic surveys.

Royston’s technical director Neil Graham said there is huge demand for skilled and independent marine engineering and propulsion services as sector operators continue to recover from the pandemic and invest in their vessel maintenance and service operations. He said:

The new Marine Electrical Department positions us strongly for further expansion and success as we look to provide customers with the competitive, highly responsive engineering services and skilled expertise they need to support their own frontline services and vessel capabilities.
“As a global marine engineering specialist, expansion of our ship maintenance services will significantly enhance our response times, operational performance and productivity; ensuring the highest standards of service and support is provided to customers.
